A few friendly reminders about things that matter and things that don’t, and things you can control and things you can’t.
Let’s start with things that matter:
Your physical and mental health.
As things seem to be sliding backwards, we will be here constantly reminding you how important it is to take care of yourself both physically and mentally.
Many of us haven’t fully recovered from last year. It is ok to not feel ready as we head in to more of the unknown, and even more okay to go talk to a professional about it. Many of us are emotionally exhausted and getting support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Your physical health is also important. What you put in to your body (both via food & media) as well as stress can have a direct impact on your physical health and immune system.
Protecting your body and mind are something that NEEDS to be talked about more.
Things that aren’t super important:
PR’s.
Your WOD time.
Stressing about your weight.
Your body doesn’t differentiate stress. Meaning work stress, workout stress, diet stress, world stress etc are not all categorized by your brain in separate little buckets. To your body it’s all just stress. So when our emotional stress is heightened, it’s probably time to ease back from worrying about your weight and crushing workouts. And that’s perfectly ok. You can focus on being taking care of your body without being hyper-focused on the scale.
Things we can control:
How we respond.
How we take care of ourselves.
How much time we spend on social media.
Being a good friend and neighbor.
