Feeling like you’ve been stuck in the same place for a while and can’t figure out why?
We’ve got 8 reasons below that might be leaving you spinning your wheels. Along with reading this blog, we encourage you to spend some time considering which one of these might be affecting your progress!
You’re not eating enough:
Stopped making gains at the gym? Not gaining muscle? Feeling lethargic? You might not be eating enough!
Muscles are made in the kitchen; and if you’re not fueling them properly you may not be seeing the progress you could.
You’re eating too much:
On the opposite end of the spectrum: If you can’t seem to lose any weight it might be time to check out if you’re eating more than you need to be.
In order to lose weight, you must be consuming less than you’re burning. Tracking your food is a great way to find out if you’re potentially eating more than you need to.
You’re not eating the right foods:
Our performance and body composition can be affected by the types of food you eat. If you’re not eating any protein or vegetables and your diet looks like a 5th graders dream, it might be time to start making some changes.
You’re not pushing yourself:
In order to see progress at the gym (both in the weights we use and the changes we see in our body) we have to push out of our comfort zone.
If you’re always using the same weights, have the same pace for every workout, and don’t keep track of either it can lead to being stagnant.
You’re pushing yourself too hard, too often:
Again looking to the opposite end of the spectrum! If you’re red-lining every single day you may not be giving your body adequate recovery. If your body is under constant stress it’s going to be hard for it to make any positive changes.
You need to be more consistent:
Both your gym attendance and your nutrition need to be consistent. 3 days of being on track isn’t enough.
You’re not sleeping:
Sleep is #1. Doesn’t matter how consistent your diet and fitness are if you’re not sleeping! Recover like a boss, get those zz’s.
You need to be patient:
Changes take time. Many people who you might aspire to look like have spent years getting to the point they are. Remember that making changes to your body is one of the few things in life that we can’t expedite. You’re enough where you are right now; and if you’re patient you’ll get to where you want to be!
